We all want to make our work sessions more effective but then a lot of us fail at the first step that’s “How to start the right way?”

A lot of us follow the perfect recipes that lead to fail in being focused during work. A Pre-Plan Routine is a critical component to boost work efficiency and making sure certain things are in shape every time you start your work can help multiply productivity during work.

It’s all about optimizing little things for greater work effectiveness in the long run.

Here’s how you Pre-plan your work sessions for better effectiveness

1. De-clutter First:  Our surroundings have a huge impact on our psychology.

A cluttered work environment leads to confusion and cluttered headspace also. It also makes it hard to focus on work single-mindedly. Seeing so many things unorganized around leads to similar unorganized thought structures within our minds.

With items, we do have attached memories and emotions. If items on your desk gain your attention during work, subconsciously you will start thinking about those things and you will be distracted.

Though I suggest keeping the entire home clutter-free. But at least your Desk and visible environment during your work should be decluttered for increased focus during work.

2. Get Clarity on Work Item list: Not knowing where to start and what to do, and ending up doing something un-important, ever happened with you?

It’s important to know what exactly you are going to do when you are getting started on some work in order to make your work session effective.

Here are a few examples:

  1. I am going to study this chapter for 1/2 hour and will try to learn this much amount of stuff.
  2. I am going to write for 1 hour and will try to write this much amount of content.
  3. I am going to shoot video, 1/2 hr scriptwriting, 15 mins around rehearse then 3 takes in the next half hour.

Be specific and write down your action on your goal with a time deadline before getting started & then put in best foot forward to execute on your goal.

3. Remove all Distractions: Distraction is anything that takes your focus away during work.

Make sure to remove any kind of distractions in your surroundings before getting started on the work. You don’t want anything chipping your attention when you are in a flow state or deep work state.

It’s important to focus in order to get the most out of your work by giving the least amount of time to it. Short spans of focused sessions with no distractions and only thoughts of work boost productivity and effectiveness of the work.

Calls, sms, social media notification generally distract us the most which can be avoided by using app block and other productivity applications on the phone.
